Leek - Leek - Carentan

Type:

Allium

ampeloprasum

Leek root and lower stem

Long, thick, vigorous, and fast growing. These leeks have a  delicate, deliciously mild flavor that's great fresh or cooked. The Carentan leek was mentioned by Vilmorin in 1885. An old European favorite that is becoming rare. Very adaptable and yields are good.

Add mulch as the plants grow until a final depth of mulch is about six inches. This will blanch the lower portion of the plant and allow leeks to grow thick and succulent.
